HeadStart referral closure

By 14th March 2022No Comments

From March 15th 2022, the HeadStart Facilitator contract will no longer be able to accept referrals into the one-to-one support service, commonly known as the Youth Facilitator support.

The HeadStart Kernow facilitator service in Cornwall is due to close in August 2022 and due to the average length of support offered to young people and numbers of young people already on caseload, we won’t be able to take additional young people past this point in time.

The intention is to continue to support all young people on caseload referred into the service prior to March 15th 2022, and Community Facilitators will also continue to offer signposting support via Bloom and directly within community settings. The service will also offer some targeted group work over the coming months in both school and community settings, culminating in summer transition group support.

We appreciate that for many professionals across multiple agencies, schools’ staff and parents & young people this has been an invaluable service in terms of supporting young people with their mental health & emotional wellbeing and we are sorry to be announcing this closure of the direct referral route.  However, Cornwall continues to offer a wide range of support services for young people in relation to their mental health & emotional wellbeing and you can find more information about a range of support below.
